Kingsley Student Lifesaver Competitive Success!

Clara Forson and Rebecca Leahey

Over the course of the weekend of 27th November 2019, Year 10 pupils Clara Forson (KTB) and Rebecca Leahey (KHD) competed in the RLSS National Lifesaving Championships Final 2019 in Leeds as a pair representing the West Midlands. After winning together in their regional heats, they were selected to fight for the national win.

The event saw the two undertaking various tasks such as First aid tests, line throw, swim and tow and many more. The girls commented on how their favourite events were the Rope Throw and the Incidents - which involved being placed in a dynamic situation to test how well they reacted to the situations there were placed in. Their tremendous effort saw Rebecca and Clara achieving Gold as overall Junior Girls British and Irish Champions.

As said by Rebecca and Clara, ‘’the event taught us how to react with anything we were given, an increased confidence in life-saving and especially the sense of achievement as we made our way to the highest level.”

Rebecca and Clara both showed amazing teamwork and we congratulate them as a house and a school.
