Alcoa STEM success

Technology teacher, Kate Hayward, led Pershore High School students to success in a recent Alcoa sponsored solar challenge at Trinity High School in Redditch. Youngsters from PHS, Trinity and Holly Lodge schools had to design and present a solar powered piece of technology to a 'Dragons' Den' of judges. This taxed their business skills, as well as their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) capabilities. Sasha Furey gained second place with her solar powered horse saddle, whilst Shay White (travel mug) and Leah Cherry (blender) were mentioned in dispatches. Between them, the team won in £250 in prizes.
