On Monday 20th Feb Pershore High School Equestrian team attended the NSEA show jumping event at Allenshill Equestrian Centre. It was the only qualifying competition for the school to try and gain a place to represent Worcestershire at the County Show jumping Championships at Bury Farm on 21st-23rd April 2017. It was also the last qualifying competition in the country for schools to try to gain a place to ride as one of 11 schools from the country at The Royal Windsor Horse Sh...ow on Saturday 13th May 2017 in the 90cm competition. Schools had therefore travelled from afar to try and gain a place to ride at the prestigious show with some travelling 3-4 hours to compete.
Pershore had an amazing day with numerous wins and placing on the day and out of 20 teams in the 90cm competition managed to secure a place to compete at The Royal Windsor Show by winning the competition. To be able to ride and compete at the show in the grounds of Windsor Castle is a fantastic opportunity and the team of Hannah Cartwright (16), Lauren carpenter (13), Holly Scrafton (15) and Jess Thomas (16) cannot wait for the opportunity. They will also be the school representing Worcestershire at Bury Farm at the County Championships. Lauren carpenter was also 5th individually.
In the 1m competition, Sophie Rushton came 1st and qualified to represent Worcestershire in the County Challenge Championship as an individual. Grace Plowman was also third. The team of Sophie Rushton (18), Charlotte Albutt (15), Grace Plowman (14) and Jess Thomas (16) also won the 1m team competition and qualify to represent Worcestershire in the County Challenge Championship.
Hannah Cartwright was 1st in the 80cm and qualified to represent Worcestershire in the County Challenge Championship.
Sophie Rushton was 1st and Grace Plowman 2nd in the 1.10m and have therefore qualified to represent Worcestershire in the County Challenge Championship.
Lauren carpenter (13), Holly Scrafton (15) and Sammie Baker (14) also formed a team who were 4th in the 1m competition. Ellie Shuter (14), Lily Elliot (13) and Emily Cooper (16) were 5th as a team in the 70cm competition. Grace Titterton (14), Verity Hodge (13) and Emily cooper (16), were also 6th in the 80cm competition. The team of Erin Hobbs (14), Mouse Robinson (13), Lily Elliot (13) and Hannah Cartwright narrowly missed being placed in the 80cm competition.
A truly fantastic performance from all riders on the day. The girls also helped out on the day with different tasks to help the competition run smoothly when asked. They should be thoroughly pleased with themselves and I am incredibly proud to be part of their success.
