Pershore High School Eco Group have been involved in a fungi growing project organised by the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. They started off in their box of Grey Oyster mushrooms in April and have carefully kept the contents warm, damp and out of direct sunlight to encourage them to grow. On the May 5th the first signs of mushrooms started to appear and they have “mushroomed” ever since . The mushrooms have now been presented to the Food and Nutrition Department to be used in their recipes marking National Vegetarian Week.
The photograph shows members of the Eco Group (Lucy Barker, Matt Ball, Ella Witheford and Ms Herbert the Eco Co-Ordinator) with their mushrooms before presenting them to Miss Burnham from the Food and Nutrition Department.
