On World Book Day (2nd March), Pershore High School was delighted to welcome local author, Olivia Levez, who spent some hours talking with and supporting Year 8 pupils. Olivia divides her time between teaching English and binge-writing in her caravan by the sea. Olivia lives in Worcestershire with her husband, two sons and her real life Dog, Basil. Olivia’s book, The Island, will be published in March 2016. World English rights in The Island were acquired by Sarah Odedina, in a two-book deal, in one of her first acquisitions as children’s publisher at Oneworld imprint Rock the Boat. Odedina said: “It is a pulse-quickening read with real heart by a hugely exciting new voice who I very much look forward to publishing and bringing to readers.”
Olivia is pictured with students. Librarian and Literacy Co-ordinator, Naomi Flanagan, who organised the visit, is pictured as Mary Poppins, her outfit for the day.
